I hurt myself today
to see if I still feel
I focus on the pain
the only thing that's real
the needle tears a hole
the old familiar sting
try to kill it all away
but I remember everything
what have I become?
my sweetest friend
everyone I know
goes away in the end
and you could have it all
my empire of dirt

I will let you down
I will make you hurt

I wear this crown of thorns
upon my liar's chair
full of broken thoughts
I cannot repair
beneath the stains of time
the feelings disappear
you are someone else
I am still right here

what have I become?
my sweetest friend
everyone I know
goes away in the end
and you could have it all
my empire of dirt

I will let you down
I will make you hurt

if I could start again
a million miles away
I would keep myself
I would find a way

Thanks man. Been looking for this :)
Sounds good. Thanks!
Actually at around the 3:00 point it gets grainy like the quality drops off. That's the loud part in the song.
Best quality I could find
nothing wrong with this song, great quality and great song. thanks my friend.
I can't find a version of this song that doesn't have this horrible quality at 3:00. The MP3 is too loud, so it gets scratchy and sounds awful.
The reason why it gets loud at the 3 min mark is bc JC sung really loud into the mic at that moment... to show how much mood and meaning he had towards that song.
The distortion is intented, it's not this versions fault, check up the wiki.
Thank you for singleing out this song.
Johnny Cash, one-time speed junkie, and one-time USAF/NSA Crypto-clerk, in the twilight of his life, in this interpretation of a song, written by a younger generation, transforms a junkie's complaint into Humanity´s Lament.
Thanks for the upload. At 256 kbps, this is the highest quality version that I could find. Though, I do wish it was higher.
